Heavy Metal Horror Movies

MONSTER DOG

Alice Cooper, the iconic shock rock legend with a penchant for the macabre, wanted to star in a cheesy, boring horror movie Monster Dog was a great vehicle for him, one of his first major commitments since  soberIn this Spanish horror film, Alice plays rock star Vince Raven, who stays in a creepy house to film a music video The problem is, it's not just... is it? Cheap, tacky and full of cheesy heavy rock songs, Monster Dog is a fun but forgettable film that's pretty hard to track down these days. Some of Vince Raven's songs appeared on the Alice Cooper box set The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper.

HEAVY MENTAL

Infamously low-budget production company Troma explored the heavy metal subculture in their predictable OTT spoof, Heavy Mental Centered around a guitar possessed by the tortured soul of its former owner, this film has it all: gore, ghosts, rock 'n' roll and some nasty lady killers. Wicked, brutal and a bit of a montage nightmare, Heavy Mental is the quintessential Troma film, with just enough cheesy suspense to keep it on the good side of entertainment.

SHOCK 'EM DEAD

Shock 'Em Dead is a surprisingly entertaining early '90s movie, even if it looks like a mid-'90s cult classic Starring Traci Lords, the film is about a young guitarist who sells his soul for fame and fortune The downside is that...he has to feed on the souls of others to stay alive. Featuring Nitro guitarist Michael Angelo Batio doing double duty as guitarist, Shock 'Em Dead is a fun slice of horror metal camp A soundtrack of blood, imagination and  a decent headbang is pure entertainment

DEATHGASM

Another horror film on the theme of a cursed heavy metal album, Deathgasm may not be original in its plot, but it is extremely inventive in its execution A comedic horror that sits perfectly on the border of two genres, it doesn't stray far from either side, which means it laughs and scares in equal measure The characters in Deathgasm are very likable and the special effects are great.
